House 1932
La HabanaUSD 852.60/month
Welcome to Casa 1932 ... a B & B that transports you some 80 years back in time to the glam Havana of old. Here, in this antique-filled oasis, the strains of jazz drift through the beautiful front room (full of so fascinating curios most museums would be envious) to a central courtyard where fountain burbles and on again in the three comfortable rooms. The little touches in the bedrooms show the experience of the host: radios, clocks, safe boxes and voluminous wardrobes, along with private bathrooms and air-conditioning. But these are by no means even the best things about House 1932. Yes, you could spend the whole day looking at the 1930s-era furniture and ornaments, from old books on Art Deco architecture to gramophones and the gambling chips from Cuba's last -ever operating casino in the 1950s. But what sets this serene retreat apart is the quality of service provided by the hosts. Luis Miguel is a mine of information about Havana, particularly where architecture is concerned (just ask him about the Art Deco tours he runs). Yet you could easily while away a day or two in Havana in 1932 House alone, such is the friendliness of the family you'll be staying with.
La Casa 1932 offers a careful service, which will make your stay very pleasant, but it has some restrictions as it does not accept visits to the same of strangers, and the good habits must be maintained.
