Prithy & Mutta House
Siem ReapUSD 1,350.00/month
My name is Rathanak, my wife Sokha and I were married in May 2005, when I was 26 and she was 24 years old. From 2001 to 2012, my wife and I were working at the same hotel where we met. The first child we had is named Prithy, he was born in April 2006 and our daughter’s Mutta was born in January 2012. Mid 2012, I had lost my job at the hotel and Sokha had to carry the family for about 6 months while I was jobless, by getting hotel owner approval she able to carry Mutta to the workplace and stay until she finished the regular shift. Meanwhile I was taking care of everyday cooking, and walking my son Prithy to school. Sokha left the hotel job in the middle 2014 so that she could take better care of our small children. From late 2012 to late 2017, I was working several posts as hotel general manager, group general manager, executive management, and chief executive officer in the hotel industry. While holding these posts, I learned and participated in driving competitive business models, excellent service quality, outstanding operations which lent me a great leadership and business reputation. I was able to drive revenue and control profit & loss. However, I was also in charge of business development, strategy, and business growth, all those responsibilities were keeping me away from my family and our small children for too long. After 17 years of non-stop work as employees, we took a chance and decided to put our experience into play. We wanted to create a different concept of accommodation in the heart of our home. We took over 2 rooms from Sakha’s parents’ house, we renovated those rooms to be a comfortable accommodation setup with the essential amenities of a small hotel. We were delighted to put the children's name “Prithy & Mutta House” to the first set of rooms and we hope the branch name would maybe inspire our children to follow into the family business. Sokha, gladly gives her all to make sure all guests at our place meet their trip expectations, she does not hesitate to offer those travelers an experience further than housing and breakfast. She delivers a true family lifestyle through her authentic Khmer home food, and her knowledge of the country. We worked very hard all through 2018 & 2020, achieving our dream by being in the top 5 ranking B&Bs / Inns in Siem Reap The coronavirus pandemic has turned the whole world upside down, and as the entire tourist industry and our homestay was also shutdown, the whole family was subsisted by Sokha again. She was quick to react and reinvent our business model, she switched from being the innkeeper, to going out selling food on the street. Thanks to her efforts we were able to bring some money to support our family.
